Birbal was famous for his wit and wisdom. Stories of his wit are common. Often people talk about his witty acts and judgements. His name is remembered with respect and regard. he was one of the nine gems in the court of Emperor akbar. the king always asked for him whenever he was in difficulty.
There were many rigs of gold, pearl and diamond in the treasury of Akbar. He liked one ring the most. It was one with a latge diamond at the centre and pearls around it. Eight servants looked after his precious clothes and jewellery. They were considered loyal servants. They also helped the king to get ready for the court. Nobody else was permitted to enter he's inner apartment. The king had full faith in his servants.
It was a special occasion. Ameeting was to be held in the court. Akbar wanted to wear he's favourite ring. Akber saed to one of the servants, Bring the most beautiful ring .
The servants knew which ring had to be brought. Hi went into the jewllery toom. He tried he's best to find the ring. When he could not fined it, he went back to the king. Hi said to to the king, "your majesty! I could not find the ring. I don't know where it is."
akbar became sad. Who stole the ring was a mystery. he ordered his Chief Minister to search for the ring. But the Chief Minister was also unable to do the job. Eviry one knew that only birbal could solve the problem. Whenever a problem like he's arose Birbal coud sove the problem. however difficult the problem was, birbal solved it within no time.
birbal called the servants who were looking after the treasury. Each servants was given a stick of the same dize. Birbal told the servant that the stick of the thief of the ring would grow by one inch that night. he asked them to come back with the stick the next day.
The servant came the next morning. the stick of one of the servats was shorter than those of rhe others. The servant who had stolen the ring had cut his stick by one inch. He was caught. He confessed his guilt. He had thought that his stick would really grow by one inch as Birbal had said, so he had cut it to avoid getting caught.
every one applauded Birbal and the king rewarded him
